Maker’s Journal: Eileen shares her thoughts on our Summer 2024 collection, Sunlit Serenade

Inspired by dreams of sun-dappled getaways, our latest collection, Sunlit Serenade, introduces 7 new designs and a reprise of a beloved, classic style. True to our ethos, the collection brings together colours and prints that feel both dressy and everyday-appropriate. Expect to see nautical geometric prints, classic Liberty prints, and beautifully textured florals in new materials that we personally sourced for in Japan!

New materials

In designing this collection, the scorching weather had us yearning for clothing that is light and breathable. Whether you’re dressing in Singapore or somewhere around the world on holiday, we want you to feel comfortable so you can focus on making memories, and not fussing with your outfit.

In addition to our popular Liberty Tana Lawn, which is made in Italy, we now also work directly with a Japanese mill that creates 100% cotton and linen fabrics in small batches.

New styles

This season, our most glamorous dress is the Areli Dress, which is designed with a relaxed twirling skirt that swishes as you walk, and a ruffled neckline that also subtly covers the upper arms.

The Chelsea Dress, inspired by the concept of work to weekend dressing, features a V-neckline with a bodice that is more closely fitted to the body. The skirt is mostly straight with a slight A-line flair to allow for easy walking, and the silhouette also allows for easy layering whether you’re heading into a chilly meeting room or a cooler climate.

Our final dress for the collection is the Beverly Dress, a smart shirtdress loved by women of all ages! To update this classic design, we made the Beverly with an asymmetrical hem that is rounded in the front and longer and angular in the back, providing you ample coverage and ease of mind as you move about your day. The sleeves are also Kimono-inspired to create a more polished shape that also facilitates easy movement.

As we bustle about Singapore, our design team often reaches for shorts when the day is particularly hot and humid.  Instead of pairing these casual bottoms with basic tanks and tees, we wanted to create a selection of easy tops with thoughtful details that would continue to elevate your outfit, all while keeping you cool and comfortable.

The Flynn Cuban Shirt is perhaps the most surprising design of this collection. Inspired by one of our designers’ love for Cuban shirts, Flynn is our take on this beach classic, complete with delicate, hand-sewn shell buttons for that classic Elizabeth Little touch.

If you are a fan of ruffles, look no further than the Florence Blouse or button down Emery Blouse, which offer strategic upper arm concealment if you prefer more coverage. And by popular demand, we are reprising the Arles Top, which you love for its scalloped hem. The slightly cropped length works well whether you choose to pair it with jeans, shorts, or skirts.

Speaking of skirts, our final design is the vintage-inspired Willow Skirt, which is a new signature design featuring pleats, buttons, and a swishy but practical midi length. We love this skirt and believe it will fast become an everyday favourite!

The Sunlit Serenade collection is now available online. As always, each design is made in limited quantities. We hope you enjoy the collection!
